I am looking for information on my great grandmother Bethia (or Bithiah) East, of Luton, Bedfordshire who married George Stanbridge on 30 Sep 1886.
My grandfather, Frederick George Stanbridge, came to South Africa in 1905. She followed him and died here May 1924.
I would like to know more about her family.
Thankyou for any assistance

Just found your site whilst researching 7th Batt E. Yorks. Thank you for another snippet which has bothered me for a while. My grandfather was killed at Roeux on 12/5/17 and among his papers is a letter of condolence from the Territorials but I didn't know why. From your research, it looks as if he was a terrier as he joined up August 1914 (aged 41!!)
I'm going to the Vimy 100 year memorial early April and will again visit grandad's grave at Agny (on his 100th anniversary)
Thanks again
Ray K,.

Just found your research group and thought I would drop you a line. If my research is correct William East (1594 ) from Faldingworth, Lincolnshire is my immigrant ancestor. I would like to be a part of your north american project, fill me in on sending membership info and dues to the membership officers, thank you.

Hi James, Its great that you found us and that you are interested in joining us! If you go to the 'Become A Member' page you will find an application form that you can download and send to Ron East our secretary - if you email him ( you will find his email address by clicking the link on the same page) it may be ok for you to scan and send the app form back by email. The joining fee is £10 per year or £25 for 3 years and I am sure that Ron will be able to give you the details for payment by bank transfer. Ron is usually very quick to respond to messages so I am sure h e will be able to let you haver any other information you need. I look forward to seeing you on our membership list soon.

Good evening
I am struggling to get over a brick wall. I am trying to find out more information on a Richard East who I beleive was christened in Eastray (Kent) on 25/12/1824. Another suggestion via ncestry suggests 1828 but I am in doubt in this. His second marriage in 1852 suggests his Father was also called Richard. I have found references to East in Hythe (where Eastray is) but cannot prove a relationship. His first marriage was to a Sarah Hookham but I am unable to find this marriage anywhere at all for his or her name. I know she had a child who died as an infant and Sarah died in 1851,Richard was into Coach Painting and followed the railways eventually up to Crewe.
If this rings bells with anyone please contact me. Thankyou. John

Both Ron East, DNA manager and I have taken the autosomal (Cousins) DNA test in recent times. I have found Ancestry to be more useful than Family Tree DNA. I have had numerous links on Ancestry including many to my EAST family. Ron EAST is at the top of my list of DNA links' being a second cousin
I do not know how useful the autosomal test is for EAST FHS but it would be useful perhaps to have an article on the subject. The test was not around when the other articles were published.

This is not so much a reply as it is to let you know there is one East you do not have on your famous list. Her name is Shawn Johnson East U.S. gold medalist in gymnastics.

Hi William
Shawn is not on our famous list as she herself is not an East. having been born Johnson and later married to an East.

I am searching for East descendants starting with Isaac William East Sr. born 1706 through 1887 from Mississippi married Margaret Peggy Smith died 1837. Married August 21, 1822 Lawrence County Mississippi. Searching Isaac's father. I think Tarlton M. East born in 1772 but there several with different dates.
Looking to see if Isaac is one of the first East to settle in Mississippi.
Thank you for any information!

We are Researching our family tree from Eleanor East who married Thomas Darvell and was buried at Broadway, Chesham where the stone can still be seen. 2 of their 9 children - Sarah Married - George Atkins and William married Sarah Pearce, 1 of each of their children married and were my grandparents. Elizabeth Atkins and Arthur Darvell. I would be very interested if anyone has been researching this particular family tree, or relatives.

Good day, everyone! I am reaching out to ask who the oldest-known East ancestor is? Do we know if they were Saxon or Norman? My own research has only gone back to 1196, to a Ralph d’Est in Colchester. Thanks in advance. xx
