This project was originally launched by the society's founder member John C East.
Jim East who lives in in North America, became the project manager when John retired.
For East families in the USA tracing their roots back to the home country is not easy. Our DNA project, as it grows,will greatly assist their research.

Message from Jim : There are about as many EASTs in Canada and the USA as there are in the UK. Many New Zealanders and Australians can trace their origins to England. Many are in regular contact with their relatives and many visit each other. It is certain that they all have common ancestors and my aim is to make contact with the EASTS on the American continent, of whom we only have scant information at present
